The Gatehouse of Winfield

Your Kansas Hide-Away
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by~
We want to welcome you to The Gatehouse!
Let me show you around our countryside...

Historic Frog Hollow Schoolhouse
Our busy lives are spent on a farm and ranch taking care of our livestock and our loved ones. When we are not tending to the land or animals, we enjoy capturing beautiful memories with pen or lens.
Our farm is in the Frog Hollow area near the wonderful, mid-central southern Kansas town of Winfield.
On and off the farm, things are always hoppin’ with plenty to do and see! Live music, local eats, trails and country roads plus town celebrations of all kinds!
From the days of the open Flint Hill prairies, this wide, cloud-filled sky has held the dreams of many creative pioneers.
We invite you to put your dreams to these skies and 'remote' here!

The Gatehouse is for the young-at-heart, outdoor enthusiasts,
and those with a creative side.
Experience "Small Town Life" Here

Creatives
Writers, musicians, and artists who want a “treat-retreat” that is nestled in a historic creative community. Bring your computer or paint brushes and create outside or in. Want a break from creating? Travel to view arch bridges, see the quilt barn art, walk our unique architectural Main Street full of one-of-a-kind shops, hear small town music venues and festivals to bring those imaginative thrills that will inspire your work!

Naturalists and Hunters
Naturalists and hunters who want to be close to all that each season brings! This is nature watching at its best; breathtaking views of the night stars around a warm evening fire. Watch for those rare views of a bald eagle soaring in these Kansas blue skies. You may spot an owl high in a tree in the moon light or catch a glimpse of deer walking the gravel roads in an early morning sunrise. Listen closely to hear the gobble of a nearby turkey or the songbirds singing at the hidden creek. And just take time to catch those springtime fireflies in a jar - just like when you were a kid here at The Gatehouse!

Country Folk and Fellow Farmers
Country Folk and Fellow Farmers who need a break from their farms to a place of peace at our farm. Enjoy the lowing of nearby cattle, the restful sounds of the nearby creek while being “picnic perfect” at your back door! It's all weaved into the edge of the city limits of my hometown - the city with the motto of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”!

Adventurers and Travelers
Adventurers and travelers who have never taken the road less traveled will want to experience a little dust on their tires! Come to a place where just you and the trees can listen to the sounds of the native grasses dancing in the wind. The Gatehouse is close to town with a shared work space, local-only eateries and events, as well as food delivery services at your door. Take a river kayak and/or a bike route in the local area with nearby guides! The young-at-heart will enjoy the board games, cards, ping pong, yard game supplies, etc. available at The Gatehouse.
